New Moon & Solar Eclipse in Virgo—The Catalyst for Karmic New Beginnings.

Starry Night

* Editor’s note: Astrology isn’t a religion. We’re not sure it’s a science, either. It’s magic, maybe. But, as with feng shui, say, things affect things. So as long as we don’t go blaming our problems on the stars, as long as we assume responsibility for our own actions…well, hell, a little auspicious coincidence and applicable wisdom can’t hurt. And so, with that grain of salt…enjoy! ~ ed.

“Although no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending.”

~ Carl Bard

On Sunday, September 13th, we will have a new moon and a partial solar eclipse in the sign of Virgo.

New moons and solar eclipses are both representative of new beginnings. New moons are when we traditionally put out what we want to the universe—we wish on falling stars, close our eyes and hope that they’ll come true.

But, eclipses are different—eclipses make the change instead of just wishing about it.

We will feel the strongest energy of change—brewing deep within us—a week prior to the eclipse and up to a few weeks after—however these big beginnings will be in the works for a few months until they have been fully manifested.

This eclipse is supercharging the new moon and making it impossible for any of us to ignore our inner truth.

While it may seem ironic that within the still darkness of the sun and moon we find ourselves—but that is precisely what will happen.

Sometimes in this life we are so busy that we never stop to just feel—and though this weekend we will be physically in the dark, we will feel most confident about what direction we actually want to go.

The earth energy of the sign Virgo is going to be felt heavily around the time of the new moon and eclipse. Virgo’s are born protectors, and seem to sometimes be the know-it-all of the zodiac—it is these characteristics that will overshadow any fears that we have been literally battling with over the past few months.

Not only that—but we will wonder why we ever felt fear in the first place.

This energy will feel quite different than the Pisces moon a few weeks ago. Instead of being caught up in our heads and having inner arguments with ourselves—we will feel a quiet, grounding calm in our mind and hearts.

Peace arrives when our heart and head come into alignment with our soul’s purpose.

We will be reminded that the answers we seek don’t necessarily need to be pursued so hotly—sometimes it is enough to simply let life happen, finding our way as we travel along on our journey.

This new moon in Virgo will be our safe place—she will be there helping to bring us to the other side.

And this beautiful solar eclipse will be there to welcome us into what will be—into a beginning that has already started, even if we aren’t yet aware of it.

The next few weeks will be a crucial time for all of us—yet it is a time when we really already know the answers we have been seeking—we just need to let go a little bit and let life show us that we truly are on the right track.

It doesn’t matter why we are all being given a mirror to look at ourselves, and then at the truth in our hearts—but it does matter what we choose to do with the opportunities that the Universe presents to us.

While this new moon wants to be the pause button—the fiery eclipse is having none of it.

This time we don’t want to pause—we don’t want to wait.

We did need some time after the emotional Pisces moon to look at what life really means for all of us, and how we can possibly combine our hearts and our love—with our souls and our life.

Eclipses are about change—both beginnings and endings, and what is so special about this new moon and eclipse is that we are all going into it emotionally vulnerable.

Over the past two weeks since the last full moon, we have been dared to strip all of our armor and barriers away. We have been asked to sit with the parts of ourselves and our lives that make us squirm—and to make love to them.

To see the why’s behind everything we do—every lie we have ever told ourselves and every time we chose doubt over hope.

Something has shifted now—we did bare it all, we did get naked and let out everything that has been inside—now that the clothing we wore no longer fits us.

This eclipse is going to be showing us in a big way what our old selves have outgrown—we are done with who we were—our mistakes are lessons that we can kiss good bye as we move into the future that is waiting for us.

If it feels like a lot has changed during the past few weeks—that is the welcome of the eclipse season making its mark on your life.

It’s the start of quick changes, and dramatic plot twists—the life that we thought we had figured out back in July or August? Get ready to have everything turned upside down.

But the thing is—we will be smiling the entire time.

It’s showing us that sometimes a lot changes in a short period of time, and what we thought was true yesterday turns out to be false today. It’s these moments of surprise, of change, that end of being the very same moments we never forget.

It is a time when anything possible—it is guaranteed.

“And suddenly you just know…it’s time to start something new and trust the magic of beginnings.” ~ Unknown

This was incredibly beautiful and made me feel hopeful for the future. After consulting both the I-Ching and giving myself a tarot reading tonight, both have given me a message of “new beginnings” in the area of physical matters (work, money, etc.). Funny enough, I’m unemployed at the moment and struggling to land a job. This article couldn’t have come at a better time and you have truly made my assumptions about my current situation even more valid. All things really do happen for a reason!

Thank you Kate for such a great piece! I too was able to feel and absorb the intense and inspiring energy from your writing, and I could not help but smile the entire time!

Kate, that was very inspiring. I actually can feel the energy and ready to absorb the new beginnings and allow the past to be a reflection on what it has taught me, Venus Retrograde helped me with that. Today I got some good news that will pave a new road in my life…..EXCITED!
