It’s funny how things can start to feel like home.
Things, places, people who at one point we weren’t even aware existed, can suddenly fill that spot in our heart reserved for the smell of our childhood home, the sound of our mom’s voice, and the softness of a worn blanket. A few weeks ago, I didn’t even have the dog beach on my radar and now, it’s a place I’m pulled to run to when I need a warm hug and a soothing touch from nature. It’s the place I go to when I want to breathe and feel perfectly accepted to be me. It’s comforting, soothing, pure and exciting- all at the same time.
This makes me think of all the times when I was terrified to lose something or someone that felt safe, because it was unimaginable that I would ever find something close to that ever again. But I’m learning, and learned, that we can, in the most surprising ways. We can find the most protective, sense of safety in someone and something if we open yourself up to it. It may not be the same, but it can be more than we can ever ask for.
With that, may we explore random places, alley ways, hand shakes, and invites -because we may be finding our next sense of home.
