The Simplest, Hardest solution to Anxiety, Insecurity & System Overload.

The Power of Doing Nothing.

Here is the great paradox: doing nothing is the best doing something that we can do.

Stopping the glorification of busy is one of the greatest slogans our present culture can stand behind, because our constant compulsion to be busy stems from an insecure place that isn’t really serving us.

How often do we just “get busy” so we can feel like we are something—or someone?

Doing nothing is the opposite of this.

Because doing nothing isn’t really doing nothing at all.

Doing nothing looks like lying in bed in the dark and simply being.

Doing nothing looks like going out in nature and just glancing around and taking it all in.

But really, when we are doing nothing, we’re giving a trusting hug to our soul and knowing we are perfect just the way we are.

This is the true meaning of trust.

You see, we don’t need to run a marathon, raise money for a cause or start a new school training program to prove to ourselves that we are an okay person.

I mean, maybe we want to do some of these things, but if we think doing more activities is going to get us where we want to go, it is very possible we are missing the point.

Our own systems are wise—most likely wiser than we could ever fathom.

Our days are busy, this is the reality of being human. Our days are filled with stress, responsibility, worry and choices. Most of us are living with system overload all the time.

Doing nothing is the best way to unwind and unravel all the information that easily becomes toxic junk in our systems.

But the hard truth is—for most people, doing nothing is quite difficult. It is actually extremely anxiety-provoking.

When we stop, turn off our screens, put away our to do lists and cancel our social plans, what we are left with is…ourselves. And we often feel a sense of inadequacy so deep, we would do anything to just run toward busyness again.

This is where we come back to the amazing paradox of nothingness—it is in the doing nothing itself that this anxiety can unwind itself.

The anxiety comes from the story that we are only okay when we are busy. This story is a lie. But our system doesn’t know this story is a lie, because it has been told this story so many times.

The nothingness itself will heal this sense of inadequacy.

Under the anxiety is power, trust, faith, stillness and a big heart ready to share love.

This can be hard to believe, but it is only hard because we haven’t taken the time to really feel into the experience of this truth.

If we are spinning with worry, doubting our choices, feeling unsure about who we really are and what we are truly supposed to do on this planet, there is one choice that will bring the answers every time.

Get quiet.

Do nothing.

Have no expectations, except to be brave and courageous, stop all the busy spinning, and just be with our own own essence for a little while.

Often, the simplest solutions are the most effective. The challenge is that they can seem too simple to the ego for us to believe they are going to work.

We think more research, more emails and more planning and scheming will fix our lives. But the answers we are looking for aren’t outside of us. Everything we need is already within our own being.

We just need to stop.

And listen.

Get quiet.

Do nothing.

Just be—and let the beautiful truth of our loving hearts emerge.
