“I don’t have very much,” she said.

And there was just silence.

“It’s not a lot,” she said.

And there was absolutely no response.

“I’m tattered, and slightly broken, and my lips smile just as often as my eyes cry,” she said.

And the wind just whipped at her face.

“I have been trying,” she shouted.

And the silence reflected back her sorrow.

“What comes next?” she whispered.

And the space around her seemed to empty.

“I don’t have very much,” she cried.

And a bird landed beside her.

“It’s not a lot,” she sobbed.

And the sun came out and kissed her cheeks.

“I’m tattered, and slightly broken, and my lips smile just as often as my eyes cry,” she howled.

And the earth shuttered beneath her.

“I don’t have very much,” she repeated quietly.

“It’s not a lot,” she stuttered.

And as her tears formed a diamond-laced stream to the ground,

She made a new decision.

“But I promise, I will give you all of it.”

And she laid her head down on the wet moss—

And then she transformed.
