‘‘Tis the season to be tired

Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year. unless you’re the person in charge of making sure it’s all its hyped up to be. No, I’m not talking about the fat guy in the red suit. I’m talking about MOMS. I seriously suggest we move Mother’s Day to December 26th because holy S$*! Christmas is A LOT of work. While kids make their CHRISTMAS LIST for Santa Clause, Mommy makes her CHRISTMAS (TO DO) LIST. Except it’s not a list of plastic toys that will have to get thrown out the following year. It looks something like this:

MOM’S CHRISTMAS (TO DO) LIST

  • Find coordinating Christmas outfits for all children.
  • Take Christmas card photos.
  • Have Christmas cards ordered by early December?
  • Cutesy Christmas craft that will make a huge mess
  • Clean said messes
  • Take the kids to see Santa preferably at a time when everyone has napped and is already fed.
  • Find more outfits for Christmas events.
  • Get a Christmas tree.
  • Decorate the Christmas tree.
  • Clean up 3 broken ornaments minimum per day off the floor.
  • Make sure no one gets cut on said ornaments.
  • Decorate the house, lights, wreaths, Santa clauses, Nativity.
  • Oh, and the ELF… move the elf. every night to somewhere creative in the house that you haven’t thought of already.
  • Attempt to use elf to threaten kids into good behavior.
  • Shop online.
  • Shop in stores.
  • Don’t let kids see any gifts coming into the house.
  • Coordinate holiday plans with all family and friends.
  • School parties/Christmas concerts.
  • Make food to bring to events.
  • Bake.
  • Clean, clean, clean.
  • Water the tree.
  • Worry about the tree setting fire 24/7.
  • Purge toys to make room for more toys.
  • Wrap presents.
  • Gifts/tips for teachers and everyone who helps us all year.
  • Secret Santa gifts.
  • Coordinate babysitting or family to watch kids for any non-children events.
  • Bake, Bake, Bake.

Oh and I almost forgot.. make sure to do all this while being completely present with your children and enjoying every moment, smile on face at all times people.. this is CHRISTMAS.

The truth is, I still love CHRISTMAS guys but OH HOLY NIGHT… it’s a lot of work. Let’s all take a moment to pay recognition to the women that make Christmas oh so magical for so many little ones.

To all the other moms of little ones working so hard this year… I see you
