What does it take to be a Full-Time Digital Nomad?

I could stay in my corporate job safe but instead, I’ve chosen to take a leap of faith as a full-time digital nomad. Here are my insights.

I wouldn’t even imagine myself running a business of my property. I was always among the best students in all those schools and colleges burning my eyelashes to get the highest notes that will bring me the best opportunities to work for.

After 2 degrees and several certifications, I was ready to take over the biggest corporations but my experiences weren’t what I expected. On the positive side, I learned a lot but soon I’ve realized that type of job wasn’t really for me but what else I could do? Asking myself this same question over and over again.

Maybe if I implement this or that, but still not working for me. I got pregnant and before my son was born I started to plan new freelance projects and give to him a great life but at the end of the day, my position was the same delivering high-quality jobs for clients who didn’t care about the value just to pay the less money they would.

One night I remember feeling like I was going nowhere professionally and suddenly an invitation for a webinar about online coaching came up through my emails. I watched it feeling butterflies in my stomach, knowing that was the right answer to my prayers.

Today, after one year and a half, I’m sure this is the life I meant to have for me and my family. It is not all fun and games but is the most incredible and rewarding adventure I’m living now. You’ll see this stereotypical and glamorous almost unrealistic photos of how a successful digital nomad’s life –working with laptops besides the beach or at the peak of a beautiful cliff– looks like but now I know it is possible.

I am going to be quite honest, it requires patience, mindset, strategy, and determination. Here’s a list of 5 essentials I consider to have on point and get you through this digital nomad’s journey if you’re a newbie:

1.- Courage

Taking the decision to go solo requires first of a big amount of courage. Probably your family, friends, and partner won’t approve but if in the deep of your heart you feel is the right path, go for it!

2.- Mindset

Get prepared for all the roller coasters this new lifestyle comes with. Consider failures as lessons and analyze what and when every choice can be done. Reinforce your why and don’t give up at the first mistake.

3.- Strategy

This is so important! Plan your movements the most as you can, from leaving your corporate job, saving money for emergencies, organizing your agenda with the steps to succeed and consider other incomes such as an online shop, service, networking, etc.

4.- Commitment

Thinking myself like; You’re the only one responsible for your actions, anyone will do the job for you… made me be more aware of every step I was taking. Commit to yourself and own your power of creating the life that you’re dreaming of.

5.- Give

When you’re reaching the success it’s the right moment to give. Giving back part of your wins to others will make you feel fulfilled and grateful for what you have now and being able to share with people in disadvantage.

The digital Nomad’s lifestyle is something that it’s achievable when you are realistic in what your dreams concern so keep going strong and focused.
