I’m a night owl. The only downside? Missing out on the sunrise. Apparently, those are pretty BA—or so I’ve been told. I’m a fan of sleeping, so I’ve missed them. A lot of them.
This morning I missed more than I assumed. What’s that phrase? Never assume, it’ll make an ass out of you and me. I had a teacher in middle school who used to share that catchy motto with his class at least once a week. I’m sorry, Mr. Kenney, I’ve failed you.
I assumed today’s sunrise was just going to be another run-of-the-mill sunrise.
I was wrong.
The sunrise today in Minneapolis apparently blew up the city’s internet because so many people were compelled to appreciate the moment and then share that moment with the masses. Thank you, kind people, who missed out on extra sleep. I appreciate you!
Now we’re all able to take in the stunning view. Check out the local coverage of it here.
As someone said in her Instagram caption, “I love starting the day with a badass sky.” Amen, sister. These photos took my breath away.
You know what I love most about it all? I love that this is proof that people stopped looking down and looked up for a change.
They stopped rushing, stopped living in a mad dash to the next item on their to-do list. These photos represent to me a slowing down and a moment where people were present in their lives, even if for a few precious seconds. While I was sleeping this glorious morning away, others were honing their mindful awareness.
Minneapolis, give me a holler next time. I’ll set my alarm.
