How to Live a Healthy Lifestyle

People mistakenly think that they have to make huge changes in order to lead a healthier lifestyle. But as most health experts will tell you, living a healthy lifestyle can involve a series of smaller steps such as taking the stairs as opposed to the elevator or drinking just one more glass of water every day. The truth is however, that with so much information out there, it can be difficult to know where to start. The following five tips should help;

  1. Even the Smallest Movement Can Help

Moving your body is one of the most important ways to remain healthy. But that doesn’t mean you have to sign up to your neighborhood gym and take that difficult spin class. Even the simplest of movements can help you burn calories. For example, consider walking to your co-worker’s desk rather than sending them a text or email, park further away and walk to your building or even just do some house cleaning or gardening. And when you’re ready, create a daily workout plan to take your exercising to the next level.

  1. Supplement Your Diet

Your diet is also very important and it’s not just what you eat, it is also how you supplement your meals. There is overwhelming information when it comes to healthy eating that sometimes, it can be impossible to decide which diet best suits you. But whatever diet you choose, consider including dietary supplements like Vitamins and essential oils like hemp seed oil. These often give you more of the necessary nutrients than you would get from your meals.

  1. Avoid Too Much Sugar

Sugary foods have been found to be the greatest hindrances to great health. And sometimes it is not easy to determine where the sugar is since it can be hidden in certain foods including canned and pre-packaged foods. The sugar in these foods is so prevalent that the average person takes in up to 22 teaspoons of added sugar every day when the recommended amount is only 6 teaspoons. The easiest way to cut out sugar from your diet is to avoid fuzzy drinks.

  1. Portions

While we are at it, you may also want to check he drink and food portion sizes. Studies have shown that portion sizes have dramatically increased in the past 30 years which included packaged foods in the grocery stores and the meals we serve at home. You may want to consider eating your meals off a smaller plate and eat small regular meals rather than one huge one.

  1. Add Color to Your Meals

To get all the necessary nutrients from your meals, you want to make sure your meals are colorful enough. Make sure that you have some color on your plate. Yellow, green and red fruits and vegetables are a great addition to your food.

These five changes should help you stay on track. But to maintain your new found healthy lifestyle, you may also want to avoid such damaging behavior as smoking and over indulgence in alcohol.
