Twin flame relationships are part of deep, soul-evolution.

They guide us on a path of self-realization, of integrity, and, most importantly, self-love.

I believe that one of the reasons twin flame awareness is in the forefront right now is because of the massive influx of Aquarian energy to the planet. As you can imagine, such frequency shifts awaken changes to our DNA. When this happens, portals open for extraordinary experiences.

We are simply craving the type of soul contact that a twin flame relationship can bring about. Gradually shifting from the Piscean Age to the Age of Aquarius, our intuition and memories extend past the mundane world to the wisdom found in connections that challenge us. The soul attracts what is most needed for its immediate expansion.

Instinctively, we grasp at the idea that twin flame relationships last forever, bring an undeniable peace, and finally free us from the love merry-go-round. Twin flame connections are one of the most misunderstood types of love, often lumped in with karmic contracts as well as the will to turn a passionate, intense union into something it may not be.

It can be frustrating to navigate any relationship, without complicating it by stamping “twin flame” on it, or employing that common excuse for staying with someone toxic by stating that we’re working out some kind of karmic shenanigans. I’m not saying that we don’t encounter lovers from past lives or that there may be bonds or vows in place which need clarity, but nine out of ten times, those karmic debt ideas may be more of a codependency situation.

It’s not a given that we will meet our twin flame in any lifetime. Twins may agree to work in separate realms, one may never incarnate into a human body, while both may during one lifetime and then never again. The beautiful thing about that is that the connection is not reliant on meeting in the flesh. It is possible to materialize a union with only one flame present in the third dimension. The role of each is to create or attract situations through which both learn and evolve regardless of a romantic connection in the physical sense.

Having said that, there are many true twin flame lovers out there! They usually come with an array of undeniable synchronicities which signal the crossing of paths. The challenges will not always be monumental, but when they are, they will define your life.

Always, the intention between twin flames is to move toward the highest good of the soul. That may not look like what we desire though. It may mean a long or brief encounter—the length is not necessarily of consequence, nor the intensity—but more poignantly, the medicine which is extracted through meeting is what counts.

Twin flames also unite through platonic relationships, through friendships or even family members. Remember, the goal of these soulful incarnations is keenly focused on discovery of previously untapped levels of consciousness. When I say levels of consciousness, I do not mean in a hierarchical sense, but in terms of gaining understanding of self in the context of all else that is.

I often get asked why twin flame relationships go awry. Again, that is the expectation of “twin bliss.” It’s a popular romantic notion, after all—the idea of twin flames allows for hope that there is someone out there who will understand us fully, and finally we can rest in having found the one.

They go awry because they are like any other relationship—they are dependent on the capability and intention of each soul to view each other through the mirror of each other’s presence. There must be a genuine desire to see oneself clearly, to sip the medicine, to walk the shadows, and, using each other’s reflection, step into our fullness. What happens at times is that we deflect or project instead of reflecting on what is ours to own and grow through.

Another situation may be that the relationship was always meant to be a shorter journey, which takes us through an opportunity for growth or acceptance of self, then releases us on our path. It may be wildly beautiful yet painful. There is no ownership at the core of twin flame love. There is only surrender.

Twin flame relationships can turn as abusive or toxic as any other. We are still very much human. And even though we may, in our humanity, judge that relationship as a failure, it is still, if we have the insight for it, successful in its lessons.

When twin love falls apart, it is important to call back to ourselves all the lost pieces of self that we may have inadvertently or willingly given away. Your divine love template can be restored with intentional ritual. Most vital is that you cut cords across all dimensions, realities, universes, and layers of consciousness. That sounds like a lot but I can assure you that intention is the key ingredient to this particular bit of alchemy.

You are standing in your power and sovereignty when, with unconditional love as an ally, you realize that no one person’s love can have an irreversible hold on your heart. If it does, it is clearly a decision to keep that alliance for better or worse. Don’t blame your twin for not releasing you. Be sovereign and release yourself.

A Ritual

Ritual taps us into mystical realms and grounds us in ancient energies.

I love calling in all the help I can get when performing ritual. In an intentional practice designed by your own imagination, you can invite your angels, spirit guide, animal familiars, and any other supportive beings such as a God/dess archetype you may be working with.

Other ideas to choose from are:

>> A bath filled with essential oil essences, flowers, and salts in preparation for ceremony.

>> Candles, incense, or herbal posy as gentle allies.

>> An altar prepared for the occasion.

>> A ribbon with your name and theirs written at either end for cutting as you say the mantra.

>> Clothing you use for holy work or that you feel powerful in.

>> Music that inspires.

>> A plate of food to ground with afterward.

>> A goblet of wine to celebrate with.

>> A small gift to offer yourself in memory of supporting your heart space.

A Simple Mantra

Use this as is or as a template for your own wording. Set your intention and speak aloud. Cut ribbon if using.

Today I act in sovereignty over my heart and energetic bodies and with the intention of pure, unconditional love, I release (name of lover, friend, family member) and all their intentions, known and unknown, toward me, setting us free from all contractual bonds, vows, contracts, and energetic cords, releasing to the cosmos across all realities, dimensions, and layers of personal perceptions. I claim back to myself all soul and heart fragments, lost to me through this relationship. I am whole, I am sovereign, and free—fully in my power. So it has been spoken, so be it.

As you move forward to new love, to healed emotions, to a calm mind and a grateful heart for your twin flame relationship now past, know that all things are as they should be and that you have taken responsibility for the life you are still creating.

Blessings on your journey, Wild One.
