How To Nurture An Empowering Mindset.

“A positive mind looks for ways it can be done; a negative mind looks for ways it can’t be done.”

~ Napoleon Hill

Why is it so important to nurture an empowering mindset?

Have you ever been able to achieve or excel at something without a positive mindset? What about making hole in one? How about that great promotion? Or winning that blue ribbon?

I’ll bet you haven´t. I know I never have.

If I have a less than empowering mindset, all bets are off. I will fail. And yet, as I type this, I realize this is just a thought…

If I don’t have a positive mindset I will fail.

Is that really true? Maybe, maybe not.

What I do know is that my chances of failing without an empowering mindset are so much greater than if I do what it takes to have a positive attitude in my life.

Cultivating my positive mindset

Mindset is part of something I work on every. single. week. with my coach. I understand the power my thoughts have to uplift and support me on the one hand, while also the havoc they can wreck on the other. My positive mindset is one of my biggest and best assets. Like the “little girl who had a curl right in the middle of her forehead” fame, when my thoughts are positive, I’m super charged and empowered. When I doubt myself, it’s all too easy to dissolve into a puddle of tears.

Change your mindset

That’s when my coach invites me to take a closer look at the thoughts around a specific situation.

We look at the feelings that my thoughts create, the actions I take when I believe those thoughts and then what happens as a result. When we break down our patterns like this, it makes it easier to see where a change needs to take place. Ideally, you want to write out this process, so you can see it in black and white. Then step back and see what comes to light.

This is critical no matter what challenge you’re going through where your thoughts may be telling you a lie.

The law of attraction

What you think about creates your vibration, your energy. Thinking the same thought over and over again is what creates a belief. And your beliefs create your reality. When your belief about a desire matches that desire, there’s no conflict. If your belief about your desire doesn’t match up, however, well, there you are… back to not achieving what you want to achieve.

Here´s an example…

Let’s say, you’d really like to go on vacation to Europe. If you´re continually thinking I can’t afford it, how does that make you feel?

Angry? Frustrated? Stuck?

What do you do when you feel that way? Do you pull inside a shell and isolate yourself? Do you eat or drink too much to dull those feelings?

Does any of that help you get the results you want? Or do you just wind up just sitting around, not going to Europe…or anywhere else, for that matter?

Transform the thought…

Now, what happens if you transform your thoughts? You want to go to Europe, so what do you need to think in order to make that happen?

Figure out how much it would cost to take that European vacation and how long you ́d need to save for it. Transform your thought of “I can’t afford it” to “It will cost $xxxx.xx and I can save that in xx months.”

How do you feel when you think “I can save that in six months?”

Excited, happy and enthusiastic, right?

Before you know it, you ́re happily doing all kinds of things to save money for your terrific trip, and then you book it!

Same desire, different result.

Always remember, when it comes right down to it, it’s always…

Your Life. Your Choice
