Walking the Unknown Path: A Poem

The path is not yet
Clear.

Where we are going,
Where we have been,
The picture is
Still forming.

Some days,
The vastness of the
Unknown swells with
Possibility,
Other days drowns
Us in worry.

We are riding
A wave of uncertainty,
Daily choices bring
New opportunities
To experience.

More presence,
More aliveness,
More sincerity in
This current expression.

Because it will change,
It always changes.

We can feel into the totality
Of the sweetness here,
Of the blessings
Abound.

Of all the ways to savor
This moment.

We won’t get it back.
It is only here
For a short while.

As much as it
Can pain us to not know,
Maybe in this too,
There is a blessing.

A deeper unfolding,
A deeper emerging,
A deeper understanding.

We have not yet found,
But can taste.

Presence in simplicity.
Presence in less.

Less noise,
Less have tos.
Less,
And less and less.

That can feel scary.
Like stripping down,
Of the walls we
Safely built around us.

Vulnerable,
Standing naked in front
Of god.

Open to this life as it comes,
Now.
Open arms to receive,
And open hands to let go.

May we bless it
As it arrives,
Taste sweet words
Of devotional prayer
Upon its return.

May we know
What we don’t know,
As medicine for the soul.

Feel and relax
Into the waters
Of springtime dew.

Stand naked
In the garden of creation.

Breathe melodies
Of sweet sound
Into our own ears,
And know it as god,
Herself.

Our own words,
And songs become prayers
To the sky,
Balm to the earth.

What’s known shall
Be unknown
Once more.
