Dealing with depression during COVID

At the beginning of the pandemic, things felt a little easy to handle, even though it wasn’t that easy to accept. We thought it’d be for a short while before everything gets back to how they were. Some of us even thought that it would be a good time to get some much needed rest from our hectic day to day lives. Finally we get to sleep all day long and follow a proper diet. Plan a workout routine and catch up with friends and loved ones.

But reality had other plans for us and things took a drastic turn. We found ourselves stuck in a routine we’ve set for ourselves. Then you realize how serious the situation is. No more outings, birthdays, parties and work. Everything is done within distance. You realize that it’s not what we opted for but there’s nothing much we can do. You spend your days on social media, trying to catch up with friends and family but there’s something off. Something is missing and as the days go by, you start to fall into depression. You don’t want to admit it but it’s real. It’s right there. You’re stuck. You feel as though the world has closed up on you and you’ve been abandoned.

Those who already were dealing with depression have fallen more profound. You’re suffocating. You want to go out and see people. The thought of not being able to do that for quite a while is scary. It is devastating. There’s nothing much you can do. But let me tell you, you’ve got this and you’re going to get through it like you did in the past. Things are going to be fine again. Be patient and occupy your thoughts with hopeful and positive ones. You’re still alive and tomorrow is a brand new day. Remember that you’re not alone.
