The Gift We Can Give: A Poem

Consciousness
Just is.
No need to
Be different.

Desire is us,
As we are desired.
We were
Desired to
Be made,
Just as we are.

No thing wrong
About who we are,
Yet,
We can always
And will inevitably change.
We can evolve.

We can seek
Less violence
In our thoughts
And words,
And actions,
Toward self and other.

Ahimsa.
Non violence.
Compassion.
Toward self
And other.

But what is other
Other than something
We haven’t seen as us
Yet?

Known
As us,
Just different form.

Colors,
And
Shapes,
May change,
But who we are,
Remains.

Can we see it yet?
Can we see this truth?
The one our skin
Tells us otherwise of.

There has been war,
And battles,
And bloodshed
Over these beliefs.

Over these structures.
Over these lands,
And dominion
Over other.

We are brothers,
And sisters,
Don’t we see it yet?

Separation is violent.
Breeds violence,
And war,
And hate.

We must come together,
In consciousness.
Not further
Perpetuate unconscious
Reactivity and behavior.

Tread lightly
With great strength,
Courage,
And awareness.

Consciousness is
No further away
Than we are now.

Step into the portal
Of newfound wisdom.
Emergence of
Shared nature.

We are not
The past
That’s created us,
Unless we seek
Now to repeat it.

We can change,
And will change
When we seek
To be with what is.

Merge with
The heart of compassion.
Offer it up like
A gift
We can give to the world.

We all have that
Gift within us
Even now.
