A Reminder to Breathe in These Times

We are evolving
Every day.

We can evolve
Even if that feels
Terrifying
To the ego and sense
Of safety
In the known
But false security.

There is so much
Unknown still.
So much we can’t see.
So much we can’t predict.

We might as well
Just stop.
Stop where we are.

Breathe in the air
Of this moment.
And give thanks
Because we can breathe.

Not everyone got
That chance.

What will we do with it?
Will we fight
And grip,
And claw?

Will we soften,
And allow,
And break open
Into connection
With others?

Yes, connection
After a lifetime
Of protection
Can feel so
Damn threatening.

We may feel
Like we won’t survive.
Like we won’t be able
To breathe.

We doubt the life
Within us.
We doubt this
Greater intelligence still.

Can we all take
A moment to breathe?

Even if our minds
Are full of worry,
Planning,
Predicting,
Protecting,
Planning for the worst.

Can we be here with it?
Can we breathe
Here with it all?

Beauty,
Devastation,
Collapsing,
And rebuilding.

There is great density,
We are moving through.
Yes,
This is true.

And so, is there a hand
To be held,
A heart to be loved,
A stranger to touch,
An embrace to give.

Newness and old ways
Morphing now.
We are learning new ways
Of the old ancient
Ways of truth.

Love,
Loving,
Opening,
Allowing
Ourselves to be pruned
In the process.

Inviting all
Of our parts,
To be here.

Welcoming the fears.
Embracing the uncertainties.

Holding close the grievances,
And the broken parts,
In the wholeness of
This next breath.
