Be With the Mess: A Poem

We
Are
Moving
Between
Worlds
Right
Now.

Old one,
And new one.
Outdated programming,
Old conditioning,
Wounds,
Triggers,
Traumas
Of the past
Resurfacing.

We don’t always
Get it “right,”
But we can choose
To always
Offer grace to
The self
Finding her way.

Even when she
Stumbles,
With awareness,
We can see more,
If even after the
Reactions,
And triggers.

Expanded awareness
Isn’t always
Instantaneous.
Sometimes,
We have to feel it all,
To heal it.

To be kind,
To the one who
Is still learning,
And unlearning
Patterns of belief,
Thoughts,
Feelings and behavior,
Of reactivity,
Of projection.
Sensitivities abound.

We all have them.
It doesn’t
Make us bad,
Or broken,
Or beyond repair.

It means
We are so
Very human
Trying to do our
Best,
Until we do better.

Intentions may
Not always
Be clear until
Effect is felt,
Consequence
Is witnessed.

We don’t need
To berate ourselves,
Whip ourselves into
Should have,
Would have,
Could have.

We are always learning,
And unlearning,
Mostly that.

Unlearning takes
Patience,
And grace,
And space
To be in the
Mess of it all.

So,
Be
In
The
Mess
Of it all.

And know,
That this,
Is a part
Of it as
Much as the
Rest.
