Bloom Through the Concrete

I was created here.
In the darkness.
Underneath the surface.
Invisible.
I found comfort.
It was my safe place.
One day a small amount of light crept in.
This was new to me.
Different.
It felt warm.
I was curious.
I wanted to explore.
Learn more.
Feel more.
But I was planted.
Over time, more light crept in.
I began to grow.
But I’m still planted.
Here.
The space I’ve known is changing.
I am changing.
I realize I can not only grow down and out but I grow up!
I am visible to others now!
I can see, me!
I even cast a shadow!
I was made in the darkness.
I grew in the light.
I’m here.
I’m planted.
I’ve bloomed.
Through the concrete.
