Surrender the Passing Forms of Life (Poem)

Sometimes,
What appears
To be true
Isn’t.

And what appears false
Holds more truth,
Because we didn’t
See it at first,
With clouded eyes.

We hold expectation,
Project onto
Reality
What should be.

But that rarely
Means it will
Come to pass
In those exact ways.

The universe is
Not a math equation,
We can calculate.
Energy in and energy
Out compute exchange,
But the feels
Of it rarely
Have numerical
Value.

We strive to
Find security
In passing forms.
Of self or other.

But these forms
Always die
In one way
Or another.

We can honor
The passage
Of each dying
Form into
The next iteration
Of life.

Holding onto
Nothing,
Less weight
On our shoulders,
When our wings
Were ready
To fly.

So,
We hold fast
To this next stage
Of evolution,
Stay ready for
Things to change.

Stay open,
As best we can
When things
Don’t compute,
Or play out
As anticipated.

Things were always
Meant to change.

So we best
Give up fighting
It.

Surrender
To
Outcome
Unknown.

The unknown
Asks
Nothing
More.

Than to
Show up,
And give thanks
For the life,
And the death.

Offer it up,
Lay down
Heavy questions,
With changing answers
The mind can’t
Understand
Just yet.

Lay your weary
Troubles,
Your heart to rest
In plentiful song
Of this next verse
To sing your
Soul a new tune.

All in due time,
And timeless
Nature
It shall be,
Until it isn’t.
