Sacred Massage

There is something amazing you might not know, and it’s even more amazing to experience.

Massage, deep massage is a way to experience expanded states of consciousness, for both giver and receiver.

I’ve been doing and teaching Massage for over 25 years, and the past few months have brought a resurgence of learning, experimentation, discovery and experience.

This is a strange time for this to be happening, with lock downs, curfews, less people engaging in hands-on experiences, workshops being limited etc. But then it’s no stranger than the world at the moment.

And with the isolation, the depression, the loneliness so many people are experiencing, it’s so, so, so needed.

I’ve been using Kashmiri Massage as a framework to bring many different ideas and practices together, and with my practice partner, we’ve been doing massages that are close to, sometimes, more than 2 hrs.

Kashmiri Massage is a dance, a meditation, an offering. There is no giver and receiver in the traditional sense. As the person doing the massage, your body is the space that my meditation expresses itself. It’s an exploration, a curiosity, a fascination, an awe. The deeper I can go into myself, the deeper the experience is, for both of us. This is so different to a more ‘traditional’ massage where it’s so much more about the receiver. I put tradition there in inverted commas as it’s which tradition you choose to follow.

What also makes this so different is that it’s not about a technique, in fact the further away you are from technique the better.

This is such an important aspect of the experience as it allows, helps, insists, that we become present to the flow, to the connection, to the intimacy.

And it is a deeply intimate experience. Not in the way we often look at intimacy, intimate in the connection with myself, the connection with you, with the energy, with the merging of you and I in this space of our bodies.

These elements come together to create the space for consciousness to deepen, to expand. To take us beyond the mind, through the body, through sensation, through breath, to a deeper place. This is a place of peace, deep, peace, relaxation, release, allowing. A place of knowing.

A place where we connect with the Divine, where we are an expression of the Divine.

It’s a space of healing as we can let go of so much. It’s a space of healing as we can see ourselves, our patterns. It’s a space of healing as we can access a deeper, a higher knowing of what we can do, how we can do. It’s a space where change happens without us having to do anything, other than be there, be in that energy, that awareness.

There is no goal of the Massage, it’s a Dance of The Divine.

It may include some Yoni or Lingam touching, it may not.

And an important digression here, a really important digression.

The Massage, by its nature is sensual, not always in the arousing sense, we need a different understanding of that, but the nature of deep pleasure in this way allows us a deeper experience of our sexual energy. That the energy can be present, deeply, fully present, and it’s just an element of the Massage. It’s not going anywhere, it’s not about making something happen, it’s not about an orgasm, or not an orgasm. It’s feeling it, flowing with it, and then flowing what arises in the next breath. This experience is vital in sexual healing, in changing our sexual patterning and conditioning, and helping us understand the healing power, the growth power, the knowing of our sexual energy.

It’s interesting when a massage is called a sacred experience, yet this is what it is.

It’s a prayer on the altar of the body, for both of us.

It becomes a way for us to experience how our senses, our bodies, are Divine.

It becomes a way for touch to be a meditation.

It becomes a way for us to see that the deeper I go into myself, the more there is for me to share with you, from the intimacy within me.

It becomes a way to express Tantra in a way that is real, tangible and immediately accessible.

Over the past months I’ve seen the impact this is having on the people I’m working with and teaching.

This is accessible and available to all of us, as a practice, as an experience.

It’s Spirituality in action, in experience.

It’s Love, in our hearts, in our hands, in our breath, in our bodies.
