Autism, ADHD and other similarly wired brains are completely misunderstood. By understanding the WHY we can understand how to be a supportive society for these people.
I came across this on a friends Facebook wall today. Both of us have children who are wired differently to what is considered ‘the norm’. We both home school our kids because of this.
‘When you have a neurotypical child, you feel reasonably assured that class participation and decent study habits will result in good grades. These kids have close friends. They get invited to participate in social things like dances and weekend gatherings. They make the teams, auditions, organizations and clubs.
But when you have a child with certain differences, this is often not the case. Learning may take longer, both academically and socially. Despite their tremendous efforts, results are often a fraction of their peers and social acceptance is fleeting, setting them up for painful comparisons and bitter frustration. Instead of a fun and fulfilling experience, school can become a breeding ground for depression and anxiety, and assignments a battle ground at home. It is exhausting for parent and child alike.
This is the week of SPED (Special Education), Autism, Dyslexia, and ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) awareness.
For all the children who struggle every day to succeed in a world that does not recognize their gifts and talents, and for those who are walking beside them, please let this be a gentle reminder to be kind and accepting of ALL people.
Recognize that the “playing field” is not always a level surface.
Children who learn differently are not weird. They are merely gifted in ways that our society does not value enough. Yet they want what everyone else wants: To be accepted!!’
My child is only mildly affected by some of these labels that society has placed on people whose brains work differently, but it has caused enough problems in her eleven years for me to know that the wrong people are offering the wrong solutions.
The first BIG issue is that out children are not a problem to be solved. I am going to talk about things now that some may call New Age crap. If that’s you, please look away!
I am not ‘normal’ myself. I was a highly intelligent and imaginative child, very capable of self expression and empathy. I do not come under any of the above labels. But I was different in that I saw and experienced life in ways others didn’t. I saw a reality (and tried to deny it to fit in) that others didn’t. I understood some Universal laws that humankind completely ignored. I eventually realized I must take on a Shaman/Spiritual label for others to decide whether to accept me or not, because that was the closest to explaining me.
It’s easier these days, as more people awaken, and the Quantum sciences catch up with some of these Universal laws. And of course I have learnt to accept and explore my own reality in many dimensions. I call myself an interdimensional traveller, because that is the best label for you to understand me more fully.
For many years I have known about these children. You know, the ones New Age labels Indigo, Crystal and Rainbow children. But the New Agers haven’t quite got it quite right either. Their descriptions are of traits, when the reality is these are children born to resonate at a certain frequency. When you are wired physically to pick up and live in, a dimensional reality that is on one of these frequencies, your brain functions differently. Some parts will be switched off, some will be turned up to full volume, others will switch on, when most people have them switched off. This is an evolutionary process to enable people to live in and interact with light waves that the ‘normal’ human is too physically dense (take that as you will!) to pick up.
The issues that arise happen because we are living in two dimensions most of the time now, that of the third and fourth. We are, as a whole planet heading into the fourth dimension, being pulled there by our Sun. These people who have brains wired differently (I won’t use all those labels that show ignorance, over understanding), are wired for the fourth, or sometimes fifth dimension, so living in this third density is HARD WORK. Our societies are not set up for them. Support systems aim to support them to live in a way which is far from normal, for these kids! Education, health and welfare, employment…all needs to stop looking at them as having a problem, and instead ask this question OF THEM and their parents and carers.
How can we support you in being you, in all your amazing, enlightened entirety?
Of course, for kids that would have to be put a little differently, but I am sure there are many adults who are also labelled thus, who would love to get support in this way, instead of the support always being about how they can fit in to systems, social structures and robotic lives, that they were not created for.
These people have answers to questions we don’t even know to ask yet. They are fore runners of a new breed of human. They have nothing wrong with their brains, they are just a product of evolution.
When we start asking them what they need, how we can help, what a normal life would look like for them, we are beginning to step onto the right track as a supportive society.
When we listen to their sensory issues and do something about them (my daughter has hearing capabilities beyond normal), when we accept that they can pick up on what we are thinking (not by hearing our words but by SENSING our thoughts and emotions), when we start listening to the memories they have of places, lives and technologies that seem fantastical, then, and only then, will we make progress towards a better future for us all.
