“ You May Say I’m A Dreamer” A Refection In The Afternoon

I was seven years old the day John Lennon was killed. The day is etched in memory.

I remember it like it was yesterday. I recall how it impacted. My personality is like John’s a dreamy visionary and even at young age I felt that loss and a wave of emotion that flooded.
I loved his music and related even though my parents didn’t . I had very religious parents.
I recalled my parents stunned and shocked amazement as they tried to rush me getting ready that day.  I heard it announced over the radio and I cried asking a million questions and the biggest question was why? What did he do?Why was he shot ? My idealist and dreamy vision of the world felt more than shattered. I would in time return with the world to the music and the legacy left behind. I would carry on and begin to explore music that was inspired by John Lennon and thus the music lives on.

Today this memory resurfaces and I pause in reflection. I’m not sure why it comes up this day perhaps it is the pandemic or the EMDR therapy I’ve returned to. I do know that music and art transforms the lives of others. We are all intricately connected  in this web of life.

I am grateful for this day and for music. I am grateful for my own creative gifts.

I’m not ashamed to say that I am a dreamer and I pray for world peace daily.

Wherever you are this day reading this short reflective piece. I ask one thing – pause and reflect a moment. Stop and look back on your own life.

Can you recall a moment in your life that impacted? When you think back what moved you ? Life hurries fast doesn’t it?

This is a glorious, mysterious and wonderful life. Thank you for the music John we are all carrying on.

Peace
