Insecurity isn’t a bad thing. It’s a thing to make friends with, not gloss over or run from.

Insecurity isn’t a bad thing. It’s a thing to make friends with, not gloss over or run from.

Insecurity is your ego, cracking open.

Our inclination is to run, or to put up a false facade—anything to close up that crack, to feel safe. Nothing’s wrong with that instinct. But if we look at our habit—of running, or faking—we see it never works. It never gets us what we want: genuine connection, relaxation, joy, or love.

So we have an alternative: stay, but remain open. Breathe deeply, but gently. Look at your fear long enough—even for one second, or two—and you might just find you’ve looked *through* your fear.

We’ll never escape our shaky insecurity—but we don’t have to be afraid of our fear.
