Words Will Always Find Me

I have a six and a half year old granddaughter who reminds me of myself. She is spirited and sensitive with a ferocious appetite for words. My daughter shared with me this weekend that writing is a tool which has been embraced to get needs and emotions across. Letter writing and journaling is a daily practice. I was delighted to hear this for writing has been an anchor for me my entire life. I’m elated that these gifts are being passed on.

Today while driving poetry bubbles up and a poem gets stuck in my throat. It emerges and clears the rumbling in my stomach and heart. Words will always find me and call me home. Words take me back to myself and In stillness there peace is found.

Poetry my love,

Writing saves me from this wreckage.

Words find me and fill me with courage.

Bubbling up like a brook the waters flow and I look out watching with hopeful eyes.

This crazy upside down topsy turvy world keeps spinning.

The world is on fire yet we are still here.
I take pause and write on for all I have is words.

Poetry, a lover that always has your back.

Like a mother that soothes and a father that guides.

Poetry, a friend and confidante.
Poems and words give birth to the children that were lost and the storms I have crossed. Words will always find me and in this stillness I have words.

This pen becomes a confessional and a journal a sanctuary from life’s storms.

Write on says an inner voice.
Write on and carry on.

The World is on fire yet we are all still here!
