3 Ways our Past Lives Still Influence us Today.

“Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.” ~ Carl Jung

As souls, we have lived a thousand lifetimes and more.

Some of these lifetimes were amazing, and we had all that we desired in the perfect way, whether that was perfect love, a happy family life, prestige, wealth, the power to do good, or change the world for the better.

But there were also lifetimes that were painful, lifetimes where the love of our life was taken from us, lives in which we were persecuted for being different, lives of poverty and hunger, lives of hardship, or lifetimes of being cast out and disgraced.

As souls, we have lived the full spectrum of the human experience; we have done and seen it all—the good, the bad, and the ugly. What most people don’t realise is that when we were unable to fully process the traumatic events we experienced in any given lifetime, the unresolved emotions and trauma from that lifetime are carried with us into our following lifetimes. This is done not to punish us but to help us heal them once and for all.

This happens in three ways:

Through our ancestral lineages

Through the field of epigenetics, we are now seeing how unresolved trauma can be passed on from generation to generation. The idea that we can take on family trauma and karma is widely accepted in spiritual circles these days, but often from an idea that we are somehow burdened by ancestral baggage that other members in the family failed to heal.

This viewpoint is incorrect, as on a soul level, we choose the families that are struggling with the same soul themes as we are based on our previous lifetimes. In other words, it’s our unresolved past that makes us a vibrational match to the lineages we are born into. By choosing souls that are struggling with the same soul themes, we amplify them in order to bring them to resolution.

Through our childhood traumas

Let me preface what I am going to say by saying that children are never to blame for what happens to them and should at all times be protected by their caregivers and possible siblings. Yet, from my experience with over a thousand client sessions delving deep into past lives, I have found that childhood trauma does not stand on its own. The roots of our childhood trauma are found in our unresolved past life experiences. No matter how awful they were to go through, on a soul level, they are meant to help us heal what was left unresolved in other lifetimes. This does not make it right what happened to us as children, nor does it absolve those who hurt us of the responsibility for their own actions. Instead, it allows us to heal the root causes of our current life pain in the deepest way because we can now see where they originated.

Through our day-to-day life

As we can see, our past life experiences play a large role in who we become genetically, and who we develop into based on our childhood experiences both positive and negative. But, there is still a third way in which past lives continue to influence us today and that is through our day-to-day experiences.

When we carry unresolved pain and trauma from the past into our energy field, the subconscious mind pulls in the people, situations, and experiences that are meant to help us heal it. In this way, many of our current life challenges, struggles, and even the people who play a part in them are from our previous life experiences.

These issues can play out in any area of your life; they can show up in your love life, your finances, strained relationships with family members, struggles in business or problems at work, and so on. As a rule of thumb, all current life drama is, in fact, past life trauma bleeding through in your current reality. The reason we don’t see this is because we can’t consciously remember our past lives, but subconsciously our past life imprints are there, and making them conscious is an important part of the healing process.

As Swiss psychiatrist, Carl Jung, said in the quote above: “Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.” This is why when it comes to trauma and karma healing, it is so important to look into past lives as well, because much of our current life struggles are actually past life spillovers hijacking our current reality.
