What a Confusing Thing. {Poem}

{*Did you know you can write on Elephant? Here’s how—big changes: How to Write & Make Money or at least Be of Benefit on Elephant. ~ Waylon}

~

What a confusing thing

To love you so deeply

Knowing our love is shared

Yet understanding that I may never be your forever.

I wonder, does our love lack something you yearn for?

Or do you unknowingly keep people at a distance

To guard your heart?

I see you searching, distracting,

Filling, filling, filling—

Collecting fleeting pleasures

Moments that spark connection

A rush, a brief satisfaction

A flicker of light.

Yet, all evanescent

Blips in life that warm the cold you bury deep,

Concealing from the world.

My heart aches, wondering if you see this too

Or if the veil of self-independence

Will keep you from feeling the beauty, the depth, the passion

Of what it means to surrender to your soul.
