Early years

He was born in a middle-class family and was raised with his elder sister. His father a PWD government employee and mother was a primary school teacher. Mohit was average in school as his interest was somewhere else. He visioned to become the best photographer. However, he was pretty good at one subject in school i.e. arts. His art class professor observed his creativity of seeing things other than usual.

Mohit was kind of natural when it came drawing or giving shape to his imaginations. His room used to be filled with numerous hand has drawn sketches and pictures. Noticing the skills, his father wanted him to pursue his passion and brought him a camera when he was only. Mohit’s father had seen him capture great pictures from the old roll based camera, but never realized his inclination towards photography. His journey begin when his hands picked up the professional camera for the first time.

Education

Mohit started and ended his schooling from St. Xavier’s School Chandigarh. He was not all bright in the study as his complete focus was on art and crafts. His father never pressured him and supported his all decisions. He also used to get bullied by seniors and other classmates but he never gave. Though he did ask his parents to make him quit school. It took a toll on his mental status and he had to consult a therapist at such a young age. Being a strong child that he was, he recovered in no time and went on to achieve his dreams. Even in school, his photography earned him recognition and he won many awards. Eventually, his father wanted him to pursue higher education in fine arts. He was sent to Australia to get a bachelor’s degree. When he came back, he had learned so many great skills.

Career Beginning and Achievements

Having completed his study, he returned to India in 2012 to start his career in photography. The most drastic change that was seen in his photography was his out of roof confidence, he was vibrant and driven to achieve greatness. He started his own photography studio by his own proud name i.e. Mohit Bansal Chandigarh Photography.  Although he didn’t start right off the bat, he first gave try to a few agencies and after gaining a bit of exposure, he started his business.

Very soon he was being asked by rich people for wedding photography, this earned him some more name and his impressive work only made the impression stronger. His main motive wasn’t to earn money but to capture the most amazing moments in people’s lives. Other people’s happiness made him happy too.

His work garnered all the acknowledgment from the renowned people living in tricity; be it celebs or politicians, he wasn’t remained untouched. His career jumped ten folds when he was asked by a local politician to shoot his daughter’s wedding. He never looked back since then. This also gave me a glimpse of another world of social service. Being a morally self-righteous man that he always was, he wanted to take a step towards women empowerment.

His Effort and Contribution in Women Empowerment

Back in early days, he used to actively participate in social awareness campaigns and he had attended women empower rallies a couple of times. And as he worked with Mary Ellen Marks, he realized the importance of rights. He felt the need for women empowerment to contribute to a nation’s growth and now he was sure to work for it.

He may have grown up in an open family but somewhere deep inside he always felt that women are suppressed in this country. They are not awarded equal opportunities anywhere; be it in jobs, study or any other field. The matter in itself is not a joke, especially where it’s needed most. The third world countries are the biggest victims and accused. In India, particularly, women are being harassed for petty reasons like dowry, child marriage and even for being a girl or women.

Mohit thinks as a responsible citizen of India it is his duty to teach or aware the women of their rights. Their rights to education and equality and having an identity equally strong as men.

the whole country making them aware of their rights. He started participating in these campaigns in high school. There was a campaign by his class against eve teasing, and it was led entirely by Mohit Bansal Chandigarh himself. And he has been things like participating in women empowerment, fighting for equal rights for women. There has been a lot of rape cases in India and Mohit has led many movements which have made people think. He believes that if we could all stand united then we can stop such cases. He thinks that his Women Empowerment Project, which aims to provide equal rights for women, can help change the whole scenario. This programme will bring about a change and women, one day, will be able to roam freely in the streets of India even at nights. He feels that his project is successful only when the women and men will share equal rights when they will participate equally in all the fields.
