Sheri McCord

Sheri McCord grew up surrounded by the beauty of the Ozarks. Growing up on a farm outside of Republic, Missouri, she cared for her horses, collected eggs from chickens, and pulled weeds in the garden. Her grandma always told her she should practice yoga, but she spent her childhood running through sprinklers and talking to animals instead. Later in 1997, a thoughtful physician recommended yoga to relieve the symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome brought on by training as a classical musician. She took a class at her university, and yoga has been a part of her life ever since. She does not align herself with one style, per se, but loves all yoga. / She also teaches English, medical humanities, and women’s studies. She completed a Ph.D. in English with a certificate in Women’s Studies at Saint Louis University, specializing in seventeenth-century literature, medicine and the body.
