These eggshells are cracked and burning
Beneath the ground I walk upon
The smell of toasted metal
Like the ring around my finger
Charred
This symbol of eternity
Can it withstand the heat?
Slow dancing in a burning room
I wish to take shelter
In the safety of your arms
But they’re flailing
Flabbergasted by defeat
How did we come upon this road?
Once a single common lane
but now divided by our pain
When once we laid together
and never close enough
but now we’ve turned away
Instead of vines that intertwine somehow we’ve lost our breath
Is this to be recovered?
Are we worth the fight?
When once we held each other up
Only now you’re nowhere to be found
As I lay upon the ground
I’m tired, withering away
A stranger in my own mind
Lost and lonely in the dishes
Forgotten wishes and a deafening silence
That speaks to me through my bleeding heart
