I Appreciate You.

Those words were spoken to me and in that instant there were a million different seconds of ‘overthinking’. Wait what does that mean? Is that supposed to be a compliment? Do you like me?  NOT like me? What do you appreciate exactly?

What I learned after allowing this to sit with me, was that in fact it is just as it is. A way of conveying thanks, feelings, and connection without belaboring it. Does it need to be specific? Perhaps, if that’s fitting to the appreciation. Otherwise those words are enough to fill someone’s cup!

This specific message was sent across thousands of miles, and is now more frequently sent my way …and interestingly enough – often when I need it most or they need a moment of connection. The Mentor/Teacher/Confident/Friend who sent this is a beautiful soul although struggling to find this in himself, however he has found way to acknowledge our connection in a way I never knew would be so poignant.

There is a saying about thanking people – you can never say it enough. Perhaps, however what I have learned from the three words ‘I appreciate you’ is that they are almost more meaningful in a world where we use ‘thanks’ as easy as ‘sorry’…and Yes, I’m Canadian so can attest to that!

Next time you want to say thanks, and if the situation warrants it – tell someone you appreciate them!
