Welcome the the Karma cafè, there are no menus, you will get served what you deserve” Anonymous

Karma is that universal law of action, intention and reaction, it is the exchange and the offerings you get involved in, in your life. You get to create all your life experiences, good or bad, delightful or not. It is the side effects of your actions. Karma is the simple law of cause and effect by which each human creates his own ripples by his thoughts, intentions, words, and deeds.
If you commit a basic action, know that action, as insignificant that it might seem, will generate an effect, the idea is to expand that beyond your personal space and realise the effect it will have on the entire universe, which consists of constant movements and reactions to movements.
The entire universe consists of actions. As Newton’s law of action says, every action has an equal and opposite reaction. That’s Karma.
One good way to the intricacies of karmic law is to watch and notice how your own good intentions and actions can lighten your heart and create an openings in your own life.
If our actions are harmonious, compassionate and loving, the karmic reaction will cause these kinds of energies to come back to us. However, if our actions cause harm, fear or hatred, we can expect karma to respond as well.

The law of cause and effect

This is probably the main and the most well-known of the laws of karma. In essence, it says that whatever we put out into the universe comes back to us. You reap what you sow.

The law of creation

Life requires our active participation. To get the life we want, we have to actively be creative and engage into it. Begin to take actions in small ways to achieve the life you want and these actions will multiply.

The law of humility

To grow, we must accept what is, rather than arguing that is shouldn’t be. When we judge others, we judge ourselves. To reach a higher state, we have to stop judging and cultivate a humble attitude.

The law of growth

It is we who must change and not the people, places or things around us if we want to grow spiritually. We should not attempt to control the conduct of others. All we are given is ourselves. That is the only thing we have control over. To overcome the self is the achievement of the clever.

“The intelligent desire self-control; children want candy.” Rumi

The law of responsibility

To accept responsibility for our actions. When something is wrong we should look at ourselves rather than try to blame others, the situation or the weather! One must take responsibility for what is in one’s life.

The law of connection

Every action we take contributes to the whole. Therefore, actions are neither big nor small as all actions influence the whole. This law is clearly expressed in Nature. Every step leads to the next step, and so forth and so on.

“Just as ripples spread out when a single pebble is dropped into water, the actions of individuals can have far reaching effects” Dalai Lama

The law of focus

We cannot think of two things at the same time. When our focus is on higher values, it is impossible for us to have lower thoughts such as envy or resentment. To focus on good things brings karma to give the same ripples effect.

The law of giving

You must live by the values that you say you have. If one believes something to be true, then sometime in their life they will be called upon to demonstrate that truth. Here is where one puts what they claim to have learned, into real practise. it
is not enough to talk about love while acting from a place of fear.

The law of here and now

If we live in the past or the future, we are unable to take action in the only moment which is the present moment. Old behaviour prevent us from having new ones, it prevents us from growing and expanding our possibilities of progress as a human.

“Like gravity, karma is so basic we often don’t even notice it.” Sakyong Mipham

Law of change

History repeats itself until we learn the lessons that we need to change our path in life. In order to move forward, we must learn the lessons presented by life. Only then can we move forward.

The law of patience and reward

Rewards may not come instantly, but we must not give up. In the end, doing work that is meaningful to us and that we love is its own reward. True joy comes from doing what one is supposed to be doing, and knowing that the reward will come in its own time.

The law of significance and inspiration

You get back from something whatever you have put into it. The true value of something is a direct result of the energy and intent that is put into it.

Like gravity, karma is so basic we often don’t even notice it.” Sakyong Mipham
