If you have been broken up with, you know the feelings that are common in this situation.
You are likely experiencing anxiety, panic, and sadness. You feel rejection and betrayal from the one you love. And finally, you are likely in shock.
Every second that passes feels like a constant reminder of what has happened. You hope for a change that will cause your ex to come back to you. With each day that passes, that hope feels more like wishful thinking or even fantasy.
You feel fragile. Your friends might be beginning to distance themselves from you because it’s all that you talk about and they are getting tired of being around the depressed version of you. People are telling you to go out and have fun, but you don’t feel like going anywhere.
You hope you will get over your ex, but at the same time, you can’t stand thinking that way because it would mean that your ex doesn’t come back. You aren’t entertaining that idea because it only invokes a panicked feeling within you.
It’s difficult to say the least.
But there is hope. If you can give your ex space and silence, the real possibility exists that your ex will miss you. But you have to stay away from them. You have to let them experience the breakup.
Right now you want to try to pull them back to you. You want them to know how much you love them and want them back. But that will only push them further away even though it feels like it would bring them toward you. It’s a mirage. Your feelings for your ex aren’t important right now. Your ex knew what you felt for them when they broke up with you and they know how you feel now.
What matters right now is how your ex feels. That’s why it is so important that you create the opportunity for your ex to miss you. You set up the environment for that by staying away and allowing your absence to be felt by your ex. Of all the things that I could tell you as a relationship coach, that’s the most important. Let your ex miss you and you raise your chances of getting them back.
