In our hustle-bustle world, it’s easy to get carried away by all the things we didn’t do, forgot to do, have yet to do. The past and the future dominate our lives so much that we simply forget about NOW.
What’s up with that?
I love this quote from Spring Washam:
“When one thought ends, right before the next thought begins,
there is a tiny gap called ‘now.’ Over time we learn to expand that gap.”
If we can give ourselves a moment, just a moment, to breathe before we rush on to the next thought and next one, we may find that we don’t have to be as crazy busy as it seems. We can unwind our own frenzy.
That one moment between thoughts gives us space to breathe, to allow our minds to relax and settle. Just that one tiny moment can bring an immense amount of peace, relief, and even joy if we let it.
This is one of the benefits of meditation. Even if that meditation lasts no more than a moment. Collect those moments, cherish them, and over time you will have more of them.
Ahhhh.
