“Someone quite atrocious. Best sign I’ve seen all day.”

Actually, my favorite sign was a little girl’s sign (here). It was beautiful, bold, fierce and kind. Our future is bright, if we can only get there.

Show up in the mid-terms, and let’s ban the (nuclear) bomb. Read and subscribe to quality journalism, and spend less time on Russia-ad and bot/fake news fostering twitter and Facebook soapboxing at windmills.

The women’s march is for all of us. It’s time to wake up. It’s time to wake one another up. To do so with kindness in our hearts, and listening, and persistence.

Boys will be boys? No, boys will be good humans. Let’s come together, right now.

Enough. Enough unequal pay. Enough sexual harassment. Enough marginalization of concerns and talking over our sisters in meetings and barely-veiled sexism in politics. Equality, respect, listening, harmony—it’s all more fun than the alternative.

The women’s march reminds us of the best of America: inclusive, fun, witty, emotional, powerful, supportive, big-hearted. May we all remember to listen, not just holler—to respect even our so-called enemies, for they are our sisters and brothers, too.

Sometimes, our dear readers (you, maybe) ask me to ignore politics. I get it. Partisanship is full of invective. Folks need a space to relax. But ignoring politics is a privilege none of us can afford. Politics is equal rights. Politics is clean drinking water. Politics is equal pay. Politics is peace, or war. Politics is safe streets, a good education, and politics is national parks and a stable economy.

The women’s march is partisan, but it’s also more than that. It is, simply, about equality. That’s something we can all support. It’s basic.

This is about love. This is about decency. Let’s come together, and wake up our culture and norms and assumptions. Let’s create a world our daughters and sons can live peacefully and joyfully in.

Time’s up!
