Borders are for maps and disputes and wars, but we are human beings, physical incarnations of goodness and love and life in conscious action. We are bigger than borders, but individually we are smaller than the problem at large. If collectively we pledged to tend to and nourish our personal world and to respect and honour the connection to all those which pass, join , or dance along our local world’s orbit, what would that collective world look like?
I reckon we wouldn’t recognize it.
The revolution will not be televized, and for a while it won’t even be heard- like the calm before the storm. Just as a massive shore swell begins with simply a bit of wind coaxing the tight yet flexible surface of the ocean into an escalating, rippling dance, we too, can breathe life into our Earthly experience catalysing the birth of a swell of love like this world has never seen.
Life as we know it seems a lot to me like walking on a treadmill to reach the promise of happiness, dangling in front of us in the form of money or social acceptance or material things. We are told to keep moving, to stay on the treadmill, and if you’re lucky you might get a taste of this “happiness”.
But the secret is, that real, true, overwhelming, life-changing happiness lies outside of these things; in the natural world from which we came, in the being of the self, in the seeing of the people we are blessed enough to discover on this journey.
And all we have to do? Step off the treadmill. Walk out of the room.
And just as a baby learning to walk, the first few steps will be shaky but we have learned to walk before, and we will learn to walk again. But even better, we will run towards our passions, we will dance to the vibrations of living and we will relax into the navigating of the heart. We are allowed to be still, for that’s where the treasures and the riches of the heart feel safe to be seen.
So I stand with arms and heart open, inviting you to take that first shaky step towards life! We can pave the way forward and make the the step easier for those who follow, for they know they will be caught if they fall.
Be brave, have trust, and please, for the love of all, dance!
