Ashley Balysky

My name is Ashley Balysky and I recently went through a traumatic period. 6 years of trauma. Instead of becoming an angry and bitter person who has a chip on her shoulder, I decided to turn that trauma into wisdom, and maybe someone else could use the wisdom and become their own light. in June of 2017, I was told my unborn son had a heart defect. I was told it was best to abort him. I decided not too. I had already felt him kick and move around, I was not giving up. And he was born with a heart defect and instead of going through 3 open heart surgeries, he required 5. He was on a heart machine that was literally pushing blood through his body and he had a heart transplant at 13 months old. The most trauma came from being in the pediatric ICU for 9 months! Do you how many children died in there? New born babies and 3 year olds and 8 year olds, kids that barely had a chance to live. The trauma came from doing CPR on my 5 month old baby on my living room floor. The trauma came from bringing this baby home, and then clueing in to the fact that I am stuck in an abusive relationship. For my child, because I did not have the courage to do it myself, but for my child, I escaped. But that wasn’t the end of it. As all women who escape an abusive relationship all knows…its never the end.
