Dipabhasadhamma is the current president and head teacher at the Panna Foundation for Buddhist Studies located in Carson City, Nevada. Dipa, as he is known by nickname, studied and undertook his vows at the Quang Ngiem Zen Buddhist Buddhist Temple. He later changed from following from the Mahayana school to the Theravada school. He was originally given the name Thich Minh Dang. When he changed to the Theravada school he was given the name Dipabhasadhamma by the Abbott of the Theravada Monastery in Bodh Gaya, India. The Theravada Pali name that I was given means दीप ; dīpa: a lamp, ओभास ; obhāsa ; light, धम्म ; dhamma ; truth. This Pali name has the same meaning as the Zen Vietnamese (Mahayana) name Thich Minh Dang. Dipa presently continues to teach, write both books and articles, and meditation teacher, along with managing the Pema Chodron Facebook Group, the Panna Journey Facebook Group, the Panna Foundation website, and lastly the Facebook Group Dhamma Mind Science.
