Scroll, Snack, Repeat? One Question to Break the Cycle.
Hanna Zipes Basel is a seasoned couples therapist with over a decade of experience, having dedicated her career to helping individuals and couples since 2009. Her expertise extends to addiction and trauma, areas in which she spent much of her early career working within treatment facilities to support individuals and their families.
Hanna’s journey into this line of work is deeply personal. She struggled with relationships from a young age, living a nomadic lifestyle and often being the new kid in school. This instability led to difficulties in forming deep connections, driving her to drugs and alcohol to fill the void. By the age of 25, after three stints in treatment centers, Hanna achieved sobriety. However, she found that sobriety alone did not resolve her relational struggles. Driven by her own turbulent journey, she studied addiction and relationships intensely, aiming to understand and overcome her challenges.
With a graduate degree and extensive training in emotionally focused therapy, Hanna is also certified in EMDR and narrative therapy and is a licensed drug and alcohol counselor. Her trauma-informed practice is backed by years of dedicated experience. Hanna’s lived experience as a “wounded healer” is her greatest credential, providing her with a unique empathy and insight that deeply resonate with her clients. She has learned to embrace her inner world, transforming heartache into the ability to form deep, long-lasting connections.
Hanna’s professional recognition includes features on Kare 11, CNN, and local newspapers. She is known for her signature warmth and humor, making her a sought-after speaker on topics such as relationships, sex, addiction, and trauma. Combining her love for learning with a passion for teaching, Hanna transforms difficult subjects into engaging and accessible conversations. Her life experiences have clarified her drive and purpose: to help others form secure, meaningful relationships with themselves and others.
