Julianna McConnell is a behavioural therapist working with children. She has a Masters degree in Psychology. Her former employment included assisting adult schizophrenics in community reintegration, as well as being part of a research team to assess females incarcerated in federal penitentiaries for mental illnesses. Her earliest memories of practicing mindfulness and meditations are from six years old, although she did not know mindfulness and meditation is what she was practicing until many years later. Meditating in nature was more natural to her than making friends as a child. It was not until she was twenty three years old when she joined mindfulness and meditation groups when she began to learn how to better describe what she had been doing since childhood. Julianna has been passionate about writing of all kinds since learning her A B C’s. She has kept many journals since childhood, written short stories and poetry since elementary school, and has enjoyed in-depth research along with essay and thesis writing since High School and through University. She now aspires to write articles for Elephant Journal, and to publish books in the future.
