The Dangers of Dogma
Reverend Michael C. Gadway is the Director of Ministry and Education for the Center for Spiritual Awareness, a meditation and yoga retreat center in Lakemont, Ga. He is a teacher, poet, and writer. His emphasis is on yoga, meditation, and common-sense spirituality as well as the importance of radical acceptance for emotional and spiritual health. He began his spiritual training with Roy Eugene Davis, a direct disciple of Paramahansa Yogananda, in 1988 and was ordained by him into the Kriya Yoga tradition and deputed by him to initiate others in Kriya Pranayama in 2003. He has made a profound examination of the Vedic sciences including Ayurveda and Vedic Astrology with Dr. David Frawley, and an intense study of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, The Bhagavad Gita, Samkhya Philosophy, and The Upanishads under the guidance of Roy Eugene Davis. Michael received a BA in English from St. Lawrence University later becoming a Chiropractic Physician with a degree from the University of Western States. As a Chiropractor, he specialized in Ayurvedic and Functional Medicine. Using his skills, he worked as the Curriculum Coordinator with Dr. Vasant Lad at the Ayurvedic Institute helping to create the second-year degree program while teaching. He then went on to become the attending physician at a clinic specializing in auto-immune disorders where he used both Ayurveda and Functional Medicine to assist patients back to optimum health before retiring to minister, write, and lecture full-time.
