What the Walls Held.
Robin Engelman, PhD, is a psychologist, writer, and creator of the Happier Hour Method™, a simple, science-backed approach to emotional resilience built on tiny daily rituals. For more than 25 years, she has helped people find calm, perspective, and strength in the middle of real life—including in addiction treatment centers, a men’s maximum-security prison, community mental health clinics, and now in private practice.
Her forthcoming book, ZOOM-OUT: Six Tiny Rituals to Take Charge of Your Attention, Manage Your Stress, and Lead Yourself (She Writes Press, October 5, 2027), combines powerful prison stories with practical tools to help readers build emotional resilience from the inside out.
Robin lives in Northern California with her husband, teenage son, and their dog, Zaza. She finds peace hiking among the redwoods, escapes whenever she can to scuba dive in warm water, and writes about resilience, perspective, and everyday life on her Substack, Lessons From Inside a Maximum-Security Prison.
