Susan Riley is a licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and a Certified EMDR Counselor. Over the past 15 years, she has been able to enhance her understanding of trauma with her training as an EMDR practitioner. In addition, she has worked with anxiety and depression cases, navigated grief, loss, and other stress-related issues. Using a cognitive behavioral and emotional approach with a system’s framework is the foundation of her therapeutic style. She completed her Masters in Counseling at Northeastern Illinois University. As a new counselor, she specializes in trauma and co-occurring disorders. She also completed a domestic violence training and has worked with women living with their abusive partner. Counseling is a tremendous collaborative effort between the counselor and the client. The process is one of gathering memories, impressions, core beliefs, and gaining an understanding of the individual systems which the client has navigated, often from a very early age.
