Embracing the body in all of it's limitations, emotions, lust, beauty, power and fragility as the very arena of spiritual experience may be the antidote to life-negative spirituality and religion. What are the roots of enforced celibacy and the seemingly inevitable child molestation that so often goes with it?1,374 views

So let’s imagine that our body is like the hands of a guitarist. The five fingers that depress the strings are our body. And we can think of our two arms, two legs and spine as the five fingers on that hand.101 views

Buddha is said to have gained enlightenment at a site called Bodh Gaya about 8 miles from Gaya. In 1835, one Mr. Khudiram was on a pilgrimage to Gaya. One night he had a strange vision that foretold that a son would be born to him who would attain great spiritual heights.78 views

Beauty is this word that is often thrown around conditionally. It's another category that can sometimes feel esoteric. To me, beauty is a celebration of everything in our lives- even the stuff that we shove deep down in hopes of never seeing that "ugliness" again- it's the organic substance that fuels our gorgeous smile, and breathtaking laugh.16,552 views

Satya – truthfulness is a multi-level, fully conscious practice. To develop solid relationships with our care providers we must be truthful with them, and they with us. Having a solid, respectful, honest relationship with our care providers will not only give us a physical birth that is safe and appropriate, but will also provide us with the emotional support and confidence that we need.131 views

Unlike other girls in 1990s Taliban-controlled Afghanistan, Azaada Khan walked with her head uncovered and her gait fearless. She changed her name to that of a boy’s; her attire and haircut followed, all so she would be allowed to attend school in a country where girls could be punished by law for doing so.666 views

Perhaps the song “Je Suis Malade,” by Belgian singer Lara Fabian is not optimistic, but I found it very powerful and meditative. I understand that meditation teaches about how we can detach from all the “destruction” of the world so that we can develop self-awareness. But I always had questions about this.185 views

On a 1987 Swedish television special, Vega said the following about her song: “A few years ago, I used to see this group of children playing in front of my building, and there was one of them, whose name was Luka, who seemed a little bit distinctive from the other children. I always remembered his name, and I always remembered his face, and I didn't know much about him, but he just seemed set apart from these other children that I would see playing. And his character is what I based the song Luka on. In the song, the boy Luka is an abused child. In real life, I don't think he was. I think he was just different.”122 views

Kalu Rinpoche bravely tells the true story behind his spiritual myth. It is a story of molestation by Tibetan monks, murder attempts, and drug abuse. It is not a comforting tale. And it clarifies the endemic problems of any system that relies upon the denial of the senses in favor of supernatural “realities.”6,381 views

I left the crowd and went into the bathroom. I sat on the countertop, closed my eyes and looked for the thing that attached feeling bad for the belief that I was bad. I don't know, I guess I was hoping I could locate the hinge and remove it. But like when I was young and looking in the mirror, I could not find what I was looking for.234 views

Last week I decided I would see how many people I could make eye contact with and smile. Maybe it was out of boredom, or my intention of playfulness, my break from leaving the labels and responsibilities of wife, mother, serial entrepreneur behind. I began my practice. Inhale, turn up the corners of my mouth, retain, make eye-contact, exhale. Don’t be attached to the results.335 views

"Nonviolence isn't just a philosophy of resistance. It is a way of life. Nonviolence is the thoughts we have, the words that we use, the clothes that we wear, the things that we say. It is not just an absence of violence, not even just the absence of wanting to cause harm. Nonviolence is a state when your heart is so full of love, compassion, kindness, generosity and forgiveness that you simply don't have any room for anger, frustration or violence," Pancho describes.996 views
