We go to Hooper Pool for an after-work swim in the hot spring water, and float around among the smooching teenagers, the yelling kids and the older couples doing exercise laps. Top 40 tins through the intercom speakers above the changing rooms. The sun angles down in the west as the wind blows hard off the sand dunes to the east. Afterwards we each get the best BLT ever and a cucumber/tomato salad fresh from the greenhouses next to the pool. The pool and the snack bar are a Saturday evening beehive of liveliness, a single drop of activity in an expanse of open, southern Colorado space. ~ Corey Kohn, 4.20.08
