“People are capable, at any time in their lives, of doing what they dream of”

I was given Paulo Coelho’s The Alchemist by two different people at such a challenging time in my life. A time when I couldn’t see my light. When I didn’t even know it existed.

The book itself is an act of alchemy. Something that you can’t explain. Like art, it has such a different impact on anyone who reads it, and the learnings you take will depend on where you are in life.

Quotes continue to come up and it’s no surprise they are in every article about the book, motivational quote lists and sometimes the very words we need to get us through life.

Words have power, even when we say they don’t.

Sometimes words are the very thing that can lift us up when we feel we are drowning.

Sometimes words spoken give us hope and vision.

Sometimes words break things that can never be fixed.

Words are an alchemy, they have a power, they articulate vision. Once something is spoken it seems almost real.

Or at least we trust this is so.

In modern times we learn to distinguish between the dirt of the media and the gold of those we trust. But even those we believe in are capable of creating a mirage.

You can have all the treasure in the world but if your heart is closed and your spirit mean, You will die empty

That’s just a fact

And what you consider treasures may not be dollars and stones.

“When we love, we always strive to become better than we are. When we strive to become better than we are, everything around us becomes better too.”

We make our own magic. Luck becomes a by product.

Anyone can show you how to light a fire.

“Remember that wherever your heart is, there you will find your treasure.”

And if your heart is not fulfilled, then that is not your treasure

And that is ok

There is no end destination, not until we die … what ever follows is then up for debate.

But that’s not what we are talking about now.

Life is a journey and it takes a great deal of courage to walk your own path.

To follow your dreams, when dreams are simply a vision in your mind.

Sometimes it takes walking through a few fires and chocking on a hell of a lot of ash to realise.

It is that which ignites something within you and makes you get up each day

Through not relying on magic spells and promises that can so easily be broken…You start to see your own light.

You realise your reality is an exact result of your actions and reactions … your darkness and your light.

What you hold on to will determine how hard it is to move forward and the speed in which you progress.

Every person comes in to our lives to teach us something about ourselves. And there will be some who make such an impression that our lives will never be the same.

And some that won’t make sense until years down the track.

Every experience is a learning and important step in our journey.

Like that mirage. Things are not always how they seem. And each day we will be called on to make split second decisions and some that consider thought.

You have the power of logic and the beauty of emotional awareness.

It’s important to know your value. To not settle for a dream or situation that will allow your flame to burn out.
