Living in harmony with nature should not just be an expression but should also be put into practice.
You reap what you sow’ if you decide to be good to nature, nature will also be good to you. Yes, we all know the significance of the environment in human lives, well to be more precise Indians know it better, particularly the ancient Indians. It’s is from the mythological era, Mahabharata, Vedas, Ramayana, Bhagavad Gita, Puranas have stated that how the environment preservation is important and how the Ayurveda can greatly help the living beings.
It is a country where the earth is considered as mother and nature as a deity. The ancient Indian culture always believed in living in harmony with nature and followed conservation ethics to preserve the environment in the most natural way.
Waste management is not an urban concept:
If you think sustainable recycling or compost is a part of the urban waste management culture then you are completely wrong. Right from the Vedic times, using food waste by mixing it on mud/soil for plants or recycling household wastage was followed effectively. In fact, every waste produced was rightly managed. And if we talk about the life-threatening plastic waste, it was almost nil because packaged food or packaged drinking water was not a part of ancient Indian lifestyle. People used to consume only freshly prepared food. No waste was thrown in flowing water as most of the rivers were considered to be sacred. Though they are still considered to be sacred, unfortunately, they are being polluted on a large scale.
Natural medication:
Growing plants and trees was kind of a hobby as well as part of living in ancient times. Most of the plants grown were ayurvedic with great medicinal benefits. Every illness, disease was effectively treated with Ayurveda. Some were also consumed to just keep the health of a healthy person good. The Rishis at that time studied every element of nature and identified traditional medicines from mountains, forests.
It’s not that these ayurvedic medicines are not effective now but it’s rare to find as there are not many resources left as such. It is hard to find such beneficial plants especially in cities where there are only concrete forests.
Early to bed, early to rise:
The ancient period didn’t have a night life as such. There were no sources of entertainment that might have kept them awake late at night. The humans then were solar creatures. Their morning would start early at 4 am., even before the sun would rise and that was one of the prime reasons of a healthy lifestyle. It was the nature around them that always made them feel fresh and energetic, unlike the current scenario where more than fog, people witness smog early morning and not to forget the pollution everywhere.
Less natural calamities:
Only if we lived in harmony with nature, it will stay calm. Nature boon can turn into curse anytime. Tsunamis, droughts were not part of ancient India because people never went against nature back then. Every individual would respect nature and preserve it in every possible way. Trees were grown and wildlife was guarded. But today the development of mankind is coming in between nature and that is why we are forced to face the fury of nature.
Mother nature has blessed mankind in millions of ways and we should not forget it. Still, there is time to show the nature some love and get bountiful in return. Example: use of natural products can be a great move vegan leather products instead of animal skin, consuming vegan food instead of animal or dairy products. Get inspired by our ancient era and take right decision and right action.
