Science of Forgiveness.

We have so many examples of people in history who forgave their persecutor.

Nelson Mandela stands out as one of them, he was wrongfully incarcerated for 20 years and was able to forgive. He says, “I knew if I didn’t leave my bitterness and hatred behind, I would still be in prison. Forgiveness liberates the soul.”

Day to day we have little irritations that happen to us that rub up against our soul. Our ego mind loves to spin on these things constantly reminding, “he did this, she did that, I can’t believe what he/she just did and said to me, how can they get away with that, it’s rude, it’s not true, it’s out of line, they should not act that way to anyone!”

Oh how we get fired up over the littlest of things to the biggest violent wrongful act.

Still in this day and age, we see through the news the worst things happening to people. The majority of news continues to show us violence and injustice happenings to all people. It seems the world still thrives on watching the worst in us, not the best.

The stories that we are seeing are just part of the story though. We hardly ever get to see the whole story, where one forgives the abuser. Where one turns their heart around and makes a beautiful art piece out of the tough trial of dark time they just endured. Where the family enters the jail to forgive the abuser. We mustn’t forget there are TONS of these stories!

Our world is full of inspiration on a day to day basis. I was speaking to someone recently who was sexually abused as a child, her abuse has set a fire inside her soul to be the most loving person and best mother she can be. She wants to help others so badly who are going through abuse. These kinds stories are EVERYWHERE. Just sit down with people and ask them about their life, eventually you will find that they too have suffered and overcame a tough time. The science of forgiveness shows that it does liberate the soul.

Forgiveness can look many different ways.

It can be a life path that one takes that is making sure they don’t repeat what happened to them, one who keeps choosing love and forward movement. It doesn’t have to be a sit down with the abuser. The sit down can happen in your own mind and heart making a vow to yourself. It can be setting an intention to give back in some way.

Forgiveness can be silent, internal, intimate between you and God. It can happen in an instant or over a long period of time. In many parts of the world people pilgrimage to sacred cleansing waters to be cleansed or go visit a priest for confession. Indigenous people encircle the abuser and lay hands of love and pray over them. There are many ways to forgiveness!

The science of forgiveness is happening right now in our souls journey in your own unique way. Take a diamond for instance; at first the diamond was a piece of coal and withstanding all the pressure, it became a diamond. Life is full of pressures but the science behind that, is to liberate our Soul, to be inspirations for one another and shine as diamonds do in the rough world.

This blog is dedicated to my son who had a serious football accident in high school, but still shines out wisdom and the brightest smile everyday! And to all those who allow life’s pressure to turn them into a diamond.

With Love and Light,
