4 Ways to Help Your Body Prepare For Pregnancy

Pregnancy is truly a magical thing. It is amazing that our bodies are capable of changing so much in order to accommodate a new life. There are a few things that are incredibly mind-blowing. For example, when a woman is pregnant, she has 30 to 50 percent more blood volume than a non-pregnant woman. Isn’t that crazy? That is why it is recommended for a woman to try and prepare their bodies for pregnancy when they are trying to conceive. It can help make conception and your pregnancy much smoother.

There are a lot of different factors that come into being able to get pregnant. There are outside things that one might not even think of that could be hurting their chances of having a baby. For example, did you know how much caffeine you drink could be keeping you from getting that positive test? What about all that stress from work? Preparing your body for pregnancy is just as important as taking care of it during it.

Manage Your Stress

Did you know that when a woman is pregnant, the body releases a natural hormone called Relaxin? This hormone relaxes ligaments in a woman’s pelvis to help prepare her body for labor and delivery. The hormone can also stretch joints and ligaments all over the body, which can lead to back and nerve pain. Yoga and Meditation not only can help you relieve some of this pain during pregnancy, but it can also help you conceive as well.

Fertility meditation teaches both your mind and body to relax. Not many know this, but stress can harm your chances of conceiving. When your body is under a lot of stress, it can cause your body not to ovulate. If you do not ovulate, your chances of becoming pregnant that month are zero. Learning to control your stress levels will help you get pregnant, but it will help you control your hormones during those long 9 months.

Prenatals

When you hear about prenatal vitamins, one automatically assumes that you should begin taking them after you get pregnant. This is not the case. If you are actively trying to conceive, it is actually recommended for you to be on prenatals for 6 months before falling pregnant. Doing this helps create a good foundation for a healthy pregnancy and a healthy baby. It will ensure that your body has the needed vitamins and minerals to keep you both in the best shape possible once you get pregnant. Folic acid for example, which is found in prenatals, can help prevent spinal defects in growing babies.

Also, keep in mind that you need to continue taking your prenatals even after giving birth. It will help make the transition back to your normal self as easy as possible.

Stop Drinking

Did you know that heavy alcohol use could be one of the reasons you may be having trouble getting pregnant? If you consume 8 or more drinks in a week, or 4 drinks in one sitting, it could be affecting your fertility.

When trying to conceive, it might be your best bet to give up the booze completely. After all, it is very common for someone not to know if they are pregnant for the first few weeks, and there is no safe amount of alcohol for an unborn baby.

Cut Back On Coffee

This one may be a little hard for many of us, but it plays a major role in fertility and pregnancy. Once you are pregnant, drinking caffeine can actually be harmful to your unborn baby. It has been linked to an increased risk of miscarriage. Drinking more than 500 milligrams of caffeine a day can also cause issues with conception.

Cutting back on the caffeine early on when trying to conceive will make it a lot easier to almost cut it out completely once you get pregnant. After all, caffeine can be an addiction and it needs to be looked at as such.
