As of this writing, the next full moon will take place on March 9, 2020 at approximately 1:48 pm EDT. March’s full moon, called the Worm Moon, will be the first of three supermoons in 2020. A supermoon indicates a full moon that appears larger than usual. So make certain to take notice of this super powerful and bright moon. Stare up into the sky and feel the connection.
Often, full moons are associated with cranky people and crazy drivers. However, full moons provide a great opportunity to embrace and connect with the phases in your life. Celebrate your success, growth, and reflect.
As you celebrate the March full moon or the next one, I offer three simple suggestions to connect with yourself and celebrate this enlightening time. The following are rituals you can utilize on any full moon:
- Cleanse your crystals. Many people use crystals to heal or meditate. They pick up negative energy from use and require frequent cleansing. You can certainly use sage or palo santo to cleanse them. However, a full moon is a great opportunity to cleanse them! Simply place them on your window sill the night before a full moon. The full moon will charge and cleanse your crystals. You can put them outside depending on your weather (some crystals should not be exposed to water so double check before doing so). If you miss the full moon, don’t worry – the energy is still high the day after or two days after. Put them on your window sill before retiring for the evening and you’ll have cleansed and charged crystals the following day.
- Reflect and celebrate. Take some time to be quiet and reflect on your growth, success, and things that have yet to transpire. Write it down in your journal. Do you have any barriers or obstacles preventing you from reaching your goals? Write these down and dispose of these barriers. You can literally rip or shred them up into the trash or burn them in a fire-safe vessel.
- Chill and meditate. The energy is high around the full moon. If you haven’t started meditating yet, this is a perfect time to begin. Start with 5 minutes. Sit, relax, and focus on your breathing. If your mind wanders, it’s fine – come back to your breathing. Remind yourself the only time that matters is now, the present moment. Be present. Be mindful. And relax during this beautiful time.
