The sand felt like baby powder and it was just as white.

The water, so blue and clear, I almost didn’t believe what I was seeing.

A baby black tip shark darted back and forth under the pier I was standing on, chasing, what I could only imagine was, a minnow…the water so clear it was undetectable.

There wasn’t a cloud in the infinite sky and the only way for me to see where it ended was to look far out on the curved horizon where it kissed the smooth as glass Indian Ocean.

I had just turned 50 the month before and I was in my 3rd year of a self created digital business.

This trip was the culmination of hard work, busting down myths and pushing boulders up hill.

I was here on a full sponsorship. One I had created and organized myself, despite the fact that I was told it would be impossible.

I’d dispelled the old way of doing things…I knew that eventually they all worked – don’t get me wrong – but spending hours every day in the content creation cycle posting stock photos of places that I wished I could go, bashing people over the head with 3 tips PDFs, chasing, cold DMing, following/unfollowing on Instagram – those things were just NOT for me!

Having adventures, indulging in delicious food, immersing myself in cultures, and meeting amazing people was a much better way to build my audience and get more and better clients!

This trip was the proof of that!

11 years later, I’m STILL following and bettering my signature system an not only is it working, but I get to have more and better clients and sponsors!
