Change your flight, change your life: a lesson in, as we say in Buddhism, “having confidence to go beyond hesitation.”

There’s an age difference (to paraphrase Seinfeld: “not that anything’s wrong with that”—they’re both clearly consenting, mature, successful, confident adults)…but their union is particularly sweet in that they’re both in that stage of life where, perhaps, the likelihood of marriage and children started feeling uncertain.

Ms. Lewis: “After so many years on my own, I’m not entirely sure I believed I would get married. But now, we’ve found each other at this stage of our lives, after epic personal journeys. And that deserves celebration.”

Children, family, being something Mr. Booker has long expressed a longing for.

And it makes sense that he hadn’t found his match, given that he’s devoted most of his focus over the past decades to work—to public service, service that has brought his voice, eloquence, courage and caring to millions. And devotion requires sacrifice in other areas, often. I should know, given that I wed, last year, at the age of 50, after 20 years starting then running Elephant as a magazine and then online and social media entity.

Via the New York Times: “The couple’s wedding comes eight months after Mr. Booker, 56, delivered a 25-hour speech on the Senate floor opposing the Trump administration’s policies in March, setting a record. His stamina and tenacity drew renewed attention from Democrats, who have largely been sidelined in the Capitol since President Donald J. Trump’s inauguration in January. The moment reignited speculation about a potential presidential run; Mr. Booker last sought the nomination in 2020.”
