The sex shop sector challenges every possible crisis and places itself in a position of real privilege within the market. This is a sector that knows no crisis, does not experience moments of difficulty and has been increasingly developing in recent years.
On one hand, the demand is becoming increasingly complex case by case and this leads — necessarily — to the creation of products that can meet every specific desire satisfactorily. On the other hand, the supply never fails to amaze through increasing innovative sex toys, which are in great demand by men and women alike, with women making up a larger percentage of the market. In this case, sex toys are the subject of market analysis: an analysis with very interesting percentages.
The sex toys market
Today, the sex toys market is becoming more and more intense, thanks to the presence of online sex shops that allow users to make anonymous purchases in the comfort of their own private spaces. Whole catalogs of national and international brand items, ordered by category and catering to each type of use, is available to users. They can then make their purchases from physical or online stores (those that have no physical space but can still fulfill orders from their catalogs), use major discounts and, in general, have their requests fulfilled in most cases.
Contrary to what one might think, sex toy purchases are mostly made by female customers. Surprisingly, the male population comprise the net inferior percentage in the sex toy purchase demographic. Data collected shows that the largest market share is populated by women (in the clear majority, about 40%) with men following at 25%, far from the female record.
A concrete percentage is taken up by couples, 35% for the purchase, with items purchased geared towards the pleasure of both sexes or to better satisfy the relationship. Despite the age limit of purchase being set at 18 years, purchases are rising exponentially among very young customers
Some data about buyers
In addition to buyer gender and age data, there is the existence of purchase data relating to actual buyers. Despite the market being limited to the adult population, there has been an exponential growth in the sex toy market in recent years. At a glance, the purchase data of 2018 as compared to two years prior is as follows; the purchase of sex toys has grown by 300% among the youth (between 20 and 30 years) and 200% in other age groups (between 30 and 40 and also between 40 and 50 years). Even on online sex shops, there are more women making purchases, even among the youngest age demographic.
The average price for the purchase of sex toys purchased by couples is between 80 and 90 euros; with the favorite toys being the classic ones, even with the existence of new toys, which use apps that allow functioning even from a distance. Sex toys employ the use of technology with great success, allowing them to grow despite obvious economic crisis.
